PREVENT HOTEL DEVELOPMENT - Ballot

You have hopefully received a proposed Amendment to the Inlet Beach Plan via mail.

In order to prevent any future hotels from being developed in Inlet Beach, please VOTE YES in favor of the Amendment you received.

If we do not receive at least 66% “YES” votes to Amend the Inlet Beach Plan, the County intends to interpret the Plan incorrectly and allow future hotels along Hwy 98 in Inlet. 

This proposed Amendment is necessary to stop the County from continuing to misinterpret the plan.

The Historic Inlet Beach Neighborhood Association (HIBNA)  is seeking to tighten up the Inlet Beach plan to PREVENT HOTEL DEVELOPMENT in Inlet, as the Plan has always intended. This is the purpose of this Amendment.

We are very unhappy that the County has already sided with the owners of 30Avenue and the developers of proposed Hotel Rain in allowing a hotel to be developed on the West side of 30Avenue.   Our Amendment, out of unfortunate necessity will altogether remove the 30Avenue parcels from the Inlet Beach Overlay Plan, but we have determined this to be the best and only viable planning solution going forward. 

HIBNA's attorneys have advised that fighting that development would be a long and expensive endeavor, and that removing this parcel from the Inlet Beach Plan is the best approach to protect the rest of the Plan from any future hotel development.

This proposed Amendment you have received is an effort to tighten up the Inlet Beach Plan to it's original intent - to NOT allow hotel development in Inlet Beach.

If you have not received a ballot by certified mail at your mailing address, please notify us immediately. 

Note:

·      On the actual ballot, please print your name and sign above. 

·      Your parcel number is printed on the exterior envelope, above your name. 

If you cannot find your parcel ID number and need assistance, contact the Walton County Property Appraisers Office or use their website www.waltonpa.org . 

·      Address:  Use the physical address of your property in Inlet Beach. 

·      You can return one original ballot for each property owned. 

·      Please share. If you provide a copy of a ballot to anyone else, they must also own property in Historic Inlet Beach. 

·      Geographic bounds: Please note that the IB Neighborhood Plan only includes properties in the below description, as specified in the Plan.  As such, only those who own within the geographic boundaries are permitted to vote. Anyone who wishes to fight the hotels outside of these boundaries should write the County Commissioners. The boundaries of the Inlet Beach Plan are defined as: 

On the South side of Hwy 98, Historic Inlet Beach does not extend westward of Winston Lane.  On the northside of Hwy 98 it does not extend westward of West Shore Drive.
